The Cast Landscape series extends ecological inquiries into the realm of classical observation, bridging the gap between historical preservation and modern environmental consciousness. The use of plaster casts, historically used to preserve the likeness of Greco-Roman antiquities, draws a parallel between the preservation of culture and the preservation of nature.
The Recycled Series is a tactile meditation on environmental stewardship, transforming industrial waste into a plea for ecological preservation. The use of materials such as styrofoam as a structural "skeleton" mirrors the way plastic waste has become embedded in the Earth’s geological record.
Paper as landscape: I treat the paper itself as a finite resource, utilizing its organic fibers to hold washes of watercolor, ink, and pigment. These works reflect the precarious state of "thin" ecosystems, places where water meets land, emphasizing that preservation often begins with the most fragile boundaries.
